چکیده

Recent fieldwork has yielded new decapod crustacean material from Upper Jurassic–lowest Cretaceous bioclastic limestones at Kotouč quarry near Štramberk (Moravia, northeastern Czech Republic). Two specimens in this lot can be ascribed to the superfamily Palaeocorystoidea and represent oldest gymnopleuran crabs known date. A genus species, Moravacarcinus stramberkensis, are here erected assigned a subfamily, Moravacarcininae, accommodate basal necrocarcinid. Our re-examination of Late Jurassic primitive southern Germany resulted discovery another early member group, referred genus, Juranecrocarcinus, as J. angulosum (Wehner, 1988). These finds demonstrate that palaeocorystoids originated within shallow-water, reefal settings reef belt across central Europe. We hypothesise members necrocarcinid subfamilies (Paranecrocarcininae Moravacarcininae subfam. nov.), thus Gymnopleura, were derived dynomeniform ancestor which adapted became modified for burying mode life. Possible candidates are, instance, goniodromitid Cycloprosopon Lőrenthey, Lőrenthey Beurlen, 1929 longodromitid genera Longodromites Patrulius, 1959 Planoprosopon Schweitzer, Feldmann Lazăr, 2007. The evolutionary pathways palaeogeographical history Mesozoic gymnopleurans markedly influenced by planktonic revolution considerably enriched deeper-marine clastic sediments with nutrients onwards.

The Oldest Higher True Crabs (crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura): Insights from the Early Cretaceous of the Americas

Despite the extensive fossil record of higher crabs (Eubrachyura) from Late Cretaceous and Cenozoic rocks worldwide, their Early Cretaceous occurrences are scarce and fragmentary, obscuring our understanding of their early evolution. Until now, representatives of only two families of eubrachyuran-like crabs were known from the Early Cretaceous: Componocancridae and Tepexicarcinidae fam. nov., b...

A psittacosaurid-like basal neoceratopsian from the Upper Cretaceous of central China and its implications for basal ceratopsian evolution

Psittacosauridae (parrot-beaked dinosaurs) represents the first major radiation of ceratopsians (horned dinosaurs). However, psittacosaurids are divergent from the general morphology found in other ceratopsians, and this has resulted in their uncertain systematic position among ceratopsians. Here we describe a new basal neoceratopsian dinosaur, Mosaiceratops azumai gen. et sp. nov. based on a p...

Ecomorphology of crabs and swimming crabs (Crustacea Decapoda Brachyura) from coastal ecosystems

Brachyuran crabs are one of the most diverse taxa of crustaceans, occurring in almost all coastal habitats. Due to their high morphological diversification, the authors sought to ascertain the existence of morphological patterns related to the habitat of coastal brachyuran crabs. We analyzed 17 species from mangrove forests, rocky shores, sandy beaches and exclusively aquatic marine/estuarine e...
